My neighbour Gheorghi’s house was the perfect backdrop for a perfect sunset this evening. I really wish I had a half-decent camera to catch all the terrific views from here, until then you will have to make do with my rather dodgy hand held digital. Not bad though, all things considered?
“What kind of neighbour is Gheorghi?”, I hear you cry? My reply is “not a clue”. I have only met him once, he said hello and how are you and then spent the rest of the time trying to talk to me in Bulgarian whilst my dogs barked continuously. He seemed nervous. In all seriousness he doesn’t live in this house, he lives a half hours drive away with the rest of his family. This happens a lot. Older relatives move to be nearer family especially during the winter months and often decide to stay with family once the winter has passed. Our other elderly neighbour Mitkov will spend the winter with his family, last year he contracted pneumonia and they will keep him close to them now. Sadly I haven’t seen Gheorghi since our first encounter, he hasn’t even been to tend to his apple trees this year. I hope he is ok. I think even he would have liked this sunset over his lovely home.

Thank you Sharon, it’s a beautiful old traditional house that is painted the most lovely shade of pink. The old houses here are great, the Bulgarians can’t understand why we want to live them but what’s not to like, they’re so gorgeous.Thank you for the kind words I’m pleased you like the new look, don’t be too impressed by the photo though, it’s my best side and the only one that didn’t show all my wrinkles, haha! Honestly, I don’t look that young in real life so it’s just as well I still FEEL young, that’s what counts
