Travel theme: On display

I’ve decided to give the weekly travel theme a bit of a spin. I must admit that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed looking through my old photos as I searched for something appropriate for this week’s Travel Theme: On Display. A lot of the photos were taken before my days of digital camera ownership, however I did find this photo from a visit to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Space food, anyone?

  1. Did you see the IMAX films at Kennedy Space Center? One of them showed one of the astronauts eating the space food. In zero gravity you can eat peas right out of the air!

    • Do you think it’s because it’s somewhere 99% of us will never venture to and that’s why we have such a curiosity about it all? Hubby couldn’t get me out of the space center, if I’d had my way I’d have spent our whole fortnights holiday there! :-)

    • We were given some ice cream to try and it was surprisingly edible. Naturally it didn’t come anywhere close to gelato! ;-) I’d have loved to have tried the rice and meat dishes just out of pure curiosity.

    • The ice cream that we tried was pretty good, they’ve actually come a long way in the preparation of space food and it’s as nutritious as some of the meals we have here on good old planet Earth! ;-)

    • Ooh a fellow chocolate lover! I fully understand your desire to go to in to space for the sake of chocolate. I suspect that if I did go, I wouldn’t consume as much chocolate up there as I do here on Earth, too much dodging about involved and my coordination isn’t great, I’d spend more time chasing the little M&M’s around the capsule than I would actually eating them!

      • I suspect the astronauts probably get to toss M&Ms at each other and practice catching the candy with their mouths. That would be fun.

      • I bet they have tons of fun up there! I’ve seen film of them doing the same with liquids – I’m not so sure I’d want to try that one! ;-)
