What can I say, I’m both honoured and ever so slightly embarrassed all at the same time. My embarrassment is not down to the award nomination, but the amount of time it has taken me to accept it. I’m ashamed to say that I received this award nomination over 3 months ago. I guess the old adage ‘better late than never’ fits in well here. I’m very much afraid that I am becoming very fluffy brained and disorganised.
The reader appreciation award was kindly nominated to me by sunshinemac. This blog is creative, fun, honest, informative and a true insight into family life in Africa. If you’ve not had the privilege of viewing sunshinemac’s blog then I recommend you pop over there and have a gander.
The rules for receiving this award are as follows.
1. Provide a link and thank the blogger who nominated you for this award.
2. Answer 10 questions.
3. Nominate 10-12 blogs that you find a joy to read.
4. Provide links to these nominated blogs and kindly let the recipients know that they have been nominated.
5. Include the award logo within your blog post.
The Questions
Your favourite colour? Green but I adore lemon too.
Your favourite animal? Wolf (wild) Dog (domestic)
Your favourite non-alcoholic drink? Freshly squeezed orange juice.
Facebook or Twitter? When I answered these questions for a previous award, I said neither to this. Sadly, Facebook is now a small part of my life. It is the only way I seem able to keep in touch with my son. Sad but true.
Your favourite pattern? The patterns of nature. Patterns in the sky, on leaves and the bark on trees, for example.
Do you prefer getting or giving presents? I don’t do either, time and love are much nicer presents.
Your favourite number? 13. My wedding day. No superstitions here.
Your favourite day of the week? Since I never actually know what day of the week it is, everyday has to be great, right?!
Your favourite flower? Roses.
What is your passion? Writing is my passion but I also get passionate about anything with chocolate in it!
I have nominated 10 blogs for this award, all a complete joy to read. I hope you are all happy award receivers, apologies if not, I’ve nominated you anyway as I’d hate to think that people would miss out on reading your blog.

Thank you so much for your nomination. I’m another one who’s taken their time accepting, but I’ve done it now. Just hope I’ve done it right
It was a truly lovely surprise to find your comment about this nomination. I’m enjoying getting to know your blog and have fond memories of eastern Europe from a trip taken with my best friend more than 20 years ago.
Thank you, I’m glad you like it! There are some truly wonderful hidden treasures in eastern europe, hubby and I promise ourselves that we will branch out and explore a little more of it some day. I like your blog very much, it’s fun and informative and I’ll be trying out the green tomato and apple chutney very soon!
Congratulations!
Thank you for the nomination and I’m really sorry, I got no time for awards. :’( I’m preparing the property and castle for the return of my employers and even now, I shouldn’t be at the computer.
Thank you and no worries! I hope the preparations go well
I already made a mistake two days ago by letting telephone technicians enter the property. They couldn’t repair the phone, because they would have had to drill holes in the wall of the castle to put new cables in. And they charge the owners 69€ now. Mäh. My own initiative never works out. I continue with work-to-rule.
Thank you for the nomination and all the kind words.
I love to read your posts, it’s a learning curve for me to see how much writing can be achieved when you put your mind to it. This is something I still have to master!
Thank you so much – very kind of you!!
You’re most welcome! I’m really enjoying reading through your blog
Congratulations. Well deserved. So understand the time delay and embarrassment getting these awards out. So glad I’m not alone
Thank you! You can see why I had to smile at your post when I read it!
