There are crickets galore hopping and crawling around the house right now and my mission each day is to rescue these wonderful creatures from the jaws of a certain young puppy. Catch, roll around a bit and spit out is her motto right now. Many moons ago we owned puppies, however in recent years any new doggy family members have tended to be older rescue dogs and well past the chewing everything in sight stage. We had forgotten, or conveniently blocked from our memories, I’m not sure which, quite how everything you see and smell is worth a roll around in, a play with or a munch or two when you’re a puppy! This morning I spotted a cricket on the mirror in the hallway that would benefit from my now pretty slick rescue service. Before I did though, I reached for my camera as the crickets reflection made me smile. I wonder what the cricket was thinking?
So, another cricket lives to see another day, free from the jaws of puppy. Mind you, how it fares outside in the big bad garden is another matter of course!

I have not seen a cricket in about 18 years. Coincidentally, that’s when I left Texas for California. Maybe we don’t have them here in San Diego. Hmmm.
Funny captions.
Hehe!
